How to Write an Amazing LinkedIn Bio

As a leader, your LinkedIn profile is one of the best ways to make a first impression and build your personal brand. But with over 660 million users on LinkedIn, standing out from the crowd can be a challenge. So, how do you craft a bio that will make people want to learn more about you?

Here are five tips:

How to Write an Amazing LinkedIn Bio for Your Profile

1. Keep it Concise

The ideal length for a LinkedIn bio is between 100 and 200 words—enough to give readers a sense of who you are and what you’re all about without overwhelming them. So, focus on the things that you want people to know about you and leave out the rest.

2. Use Keywords

LinkedIn is a search engine, so it’s important to use keywords throughout your profile—including in your bio—that will help people find you. For example, if you’re a consultant, some of the keywords you might want to use are “consulting,” “growth hacking,” “revenue growth,” “strategy,” etc.

3. Tell Your Story

Your bio should tell your professional story and explain what makes you unique. So, don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through. After all, people do business with people they know, like, and trust.

4. Use Compelling Language

Use strong verbs and active language to describe your accomplishments and make your bio visually appealing. For example, instead of saying, “I increased website traffic by X%,” try “I boosted website traffic by X%.”

5. Include a Call-to-Action

The whole point of having a bio is to encourage people to take action—whether that’s visiting your website, signing up for your newsletter, or contacting you for a consultation. So, make sure to include a call-to-action (e.g., “Get in touch if you need help with [X]” or “Learn more about my work as a [Y]”) at the end of your bio.

By following these five tips—keeping it concise; using keywords; telling your story; using compelling language; and including a call-to-action—you can craft a bio that will make people want to learn more about you and what you do.
